Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. is her father, director of a company on the internet and businessman. She was raised in an luxurious Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan by the family of a Catholic family. Because of this, her parents put her into the Convent of the Sacred Heart an elitist and religious school. It was a passion for her since childhood. She began playing the piano when she was an infant. When she was thirteen, she composed her first piece. She performed at open mics. The singers she admired included Queen Michael Jackson Madonna and David Bowie. Upon completion of high school she entered New York University's Tisch School of Art to pursue a degree in music. But, she didn't finish her degree. Instead, she started her music career.
